Scream And Run Walkthrough: School Keys & Mines Dynamite Chain

A full Scream And Run walkthrough — the six-step School key loop and the Mines chain that uses no keys at all: pickaxe, coal, furnace, six dynamite and a lighter to blow the exit.

Last verified: 2026-09-11Priority: P0Source-tagged facts below

A Scream And Run walkthrough has to treat its two chapters differently: the School is a search game — five keys re-rolled into backpacks every round — while the Mines, added September 3, 2026, replace keys entirely with a production chain of pickaxe, coal, furnace and six dynamite. Most guides get the Mines wrong by copying the School's key loop onto it; this page keeps both chapters straight. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

If you prefer watching a full run before reading: the walkthrough below covers both chapters end to end — pair it with the written route and the controls guide and you will know every input before your first round. Seen in footage · 2026-09-11

Chapter 1 — The School

The exit does not move and neither do the rooms. Only the keys re-roll. That means there is no route to memorize — there is a sweep discipline to build. The six steps below reflect what actually happens in recorded escape runs. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

Phase 1: Spawn and Orient

Find the exit door first and remember the route back — every later decision is measured against it. Join the developer's Roblox group and like the game before the round for a fourth life on top of the base three. The HUD shows those lives as hearts in the bottom-left corner — "you get three lives. Look at the bottom left." — so you always know how many mistakes are left. Community report · 2026-09-11 Seen in footage · 2026-09-11

Phase 2: Sweep the Eight Backpack Rooms

Only eight rooms contain backpacks: Classroom, Cafeteria, Library, Gymnasium, Bathroom, Kitchen, Office and Auditorium. Keys hide inside the bags and nowhere else. Search systematically in one direction so you always know which area is already cleared. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

Phase 3: Read the Glow

Each backpack can be searched once per round, by everyone — and an opened bag stops glowing. Dark bags are free information: skip them, including bags other players already cleared. Opening six to eight empty bags in a row is the designed rate, not a signal to change strategy. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

Phase 4: Deliver Keys Immediately

Carry each key straight to its matching padlock — there are five — and post a lookout at the hallway while the lock turns; unlocking takes time. Recorded runs end with players holding keys they meant to deliver after one more room; the key drops at your body where anyone can pick it up, but your run is over. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

Phase 5: Live Behind the Patrol

The Cat walks a fixed loop through the rooms, so search the room he just left, never the one he is entering, and never stop in a hallway between them. When he spots you anyway: sprint, slide around a corner with Shift plus C, break line of sight, and reset direction — the map loops back on itself, so running straight eventually delivers you to him. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

Phase 6: Five Locks, Leave

When the fifth padlock turns, exit immediately. No new rooms, no unexplored shortcuts, no picking up one more backpack on the way — the endgame sweep is where wins are thrown away. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

Chapter 2 — The Mines

The Mines chapter launched on September 3, 2026, and it inverts the School's rules: items do not glow, the map has two areas instead of one, and there are no keys anywhere. The full six-step chain: Roblox API · 2026-09-11

  1. Grab the pickaxe. You start with a tool, not a search — but footage players still spend the opening minutes hunting one down ("Where is a mining pick, man? I haven't found anything"), so do not expect one in hand the moment you spawn. Roblox API · 2026-09-11 Seen in footage · 2026-09-11
  2. Mine coal. The coal the furnace requires is disputed — two recordings disagree, showing 8 and 6 — so the honest answer is: (exact coal count required by the furnace: to be verified — sources show 6 and 8). Community report · 2026-09-11
  3. Feed the furnace. Delivering the coal opens the way into area two — the only multi-area chapter in the game. Footage adds two details: the coal drop-off is remembered as "like two places, I think", and the Mines also has a power-on step — "we need to power stuff on" — alongside the furnace work. Roblox API · 2026-09-11 Seen in footage · 2026-09-11
  4. Collect six dynamite and a lighter. The charges replace the keys' collect-five job; the lighter is mandatory, as the dynamite cannot be ignited without it — footage asks it from the other side: "how do we blow these things? ... We need a lighter. Is that it?" Some rounds find charges already seated in the wall, so placement can be shared across the lobby. Roblox API · 2026-09-11 Seen in footage · 2026-09-11
  5. Blow the exit wall. The dynamite opens the way out. Roblox API · 2026-09-11
  6. Walk out — no cutscene. There is no ending animation behind the wall. Community report · 2026-09-11

Nothing glows in the Mines, so sweep tunnels by eye and stay off the rails — the monster travels along them. Footage shows Thomas rolling down the tracks and turning with them, and low crevices he cannot wheel under: "they put these little crevices that he can't he can't wheel under." Those crawl gaps are the closest thing the Mines has to a safe spot. Community report · 2026-09-11 Seen in footage · 2026-09-11

The monster comparison matters as much as the route: Thomas is a spider-legged train engine who can pass through walls but never teleports, and his music carries far enough to track him from a distance — community consensus is that he is considerably easier to handle than the Cat. Note on naming: the official name is simply Thomas; "Dark Thomas" is a community nickname with no official source. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

No Power Is Not a Third Map

No Power is not a separate map: it is a lobby switch that blanks either chapter into total darkness — School and Mines each have their own No Power badge. You play by flashlight alone, and the beam cone points where your camera looks, not where danger is. One detail footage confirms: turning the power off is a paid option — the toggle sits behind a gamepass purchase, not a free setting — so most rounds you will simply be playing in the dark with the lights already out. Clear a chapter with the lights on before attempting it blind. Seen in footage · 2026-09-11

What Comes Next

Update, September 11: the Roblox badges API has just added "You Escaped Play Place" and "You Escaped Play Place With No Power" — both at zero awards. The previously teased third chapter (the inflatable "Playpen" area, branded in the badges as Play Place) is therefore live or launching within days; an escape walkthrough will follow as soon as first footage exists. Roblox API · 2026-09-11

One more unreleased map remains officially named Maze, with the developer's "New Map / New Monster" announcements marked Date Not Final and teaser art showing an unnamed clown-like figure. The first expected window already passed without a launch: (official release date for Maze: to be verified — current window ends September 19). Community report · 2026-09-11

For the fundamentals behind both chapters, start with the beginner guide, check the keys guide, and use the badge win rates as a difficulty comparison between the two chapters.
